...seems to be the mantra when traveling internationally these days. After arriving at the airport by 8:30 AM for our 11:15 flight to London via Chicago (to pick up Margaret)the intentional buffer time built in to our outgoing trip gave us the luxury of time to sit in the airport lounge and anticipate what is to come. We really don't know what to expect, but the next 24 hours will be the appetizer to the next ten days!
It's been six years since Brenda and I did this trip in reverse--coming back from Vienna
with Marshall and Blake both in or just completing middle school. Thinking back through those days--especially with life's natural benchmarks of graduations, college admissions and career adjustments, this kind of adventure seems almost out of place; which makes the opportunity of this once-in-a-lifetime trip even that much more anticipated!
My goal is to collect at least one quote of wisdom from Dad each day. Here is today's from a book he's reading from an admired pastor/author:
"I've discovered the the secret to life is to die young--as late as possible!"
Henry Sloan Coffen from (he's trying to recall the book title).
They're starting to gather to board our trip to Chicago so I must close.
